15 Scriptures to Pray When Depression Drains You Of Your Words

Depression can be very draining.  Often the words just aren’t there as you try to navigate the dark cavern in your mind.  

As I stated in an earlier post, I have been battling depression, so I know first-hand how it can drain you so completely, you are physically unable to form the words to say to others let alone to God, to  whom you should be turning.

     My pit had gotten so dark and so deep that I didn’t know which way was even up.  I couldn’t even see the light.  I kept asking, “God, where are you.  I don’t see you.  I can’t feel you.  I can’t hear you.”  After awhile the darkness had permeated my brain so much that forming a complete thought was impossible. Pray to God?  I didn’t know where to start.

I decided to help both myself and others, I would share a list of verses to help you pray when you just can’t seem to come up with a prayer on your own prayers. Praying the scripture is a tool I have used before.  There is power in praying His word.

Here are fifteen scriptures that I hope help you.

“You, Lord, are my lamp; You turn my darkness into light.” 2 Samuel 22:29
