Depression. A lot of people don’t understand it. They may say, “You can get over it”, “Put on a happy face” or, my personal favorite, “If you are a Christian, you should not get depressed.” That is total hogwash. The Bible is full of people who dealt with depression: Abraham, Jonah, Job, Elijah, King Saul, Jeremiah and David.
. For me, depression is listening to the lies of the demons; most particularly, the devil. And it is not only listening, it is believing those lies. It is taking those lies to heart. Believe me, after you hear something long enough, you start believing the lie that it is the truth. This is more commonly known as Brainwashing and kidnappers have used it successfully for years to subdue their victims and make them more pliable to their will. Satan does the same by repeating the lies over and over until you begin to believe them.
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32
Therefore, rejecting all falsity and being done now with it, let everyone express the truth with his neighbor, for we are all parts of one body and members one of another. Ephesians 4: 25
